Socios en Salud, sister organization to Partners in Health, operates out of Carabayllo- a shantytown in the north of Lima. The organization was created to help diagnose and treat antibiotic resistant TB which plagued the area. What I loved learning about was how SES involved the community to boost the initiative. Members of Carabayllo will assist in clinics, case working, or leading workshops. Today their work also includes mental health initiatives, prepartum and postpartum care.
